Dr Vicki McCartney reflects on a decade of growth and impact

After more than a decade helping shape the region's health system, Dr Vicki McCartney stepped down as COORDINARE Board Member and Illawarra Shoalhaven Clinical Council Chair, leaving a legacy of leadership, collaboration and commitment to community health. 

Dr McCartney helped guide the organisation through significant change, championing stronger connections between general practice, hospitals and community services to support more integrated, patient-centred care. Her leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact on both COORDINARE and the communities it serves.

Over the last 10 years we’ve grown and matured as an organisation and we’ve negotiated challenges and change, including the pandemic and natural disasters. But health is very complex and there's always more to do to improve the quality of health care.

Dr McCartney has devoted 40 years to ‘making a lasting difference to the health of this wonderful and highly diverse community’ in her roles at COORDINARE and its predecessor Illawarra Shoalhaven Medicare Local (as Chair) and Shoalhaven Division of General Practice.
